There seems to be conflicting information regarding this. Australian Labor minister Gary Gray made the mistake of announcing that Mandela was dead, he made the announcement last night when addressing the
Minerals Council of Australia's annual official dinner in place of Julia
Gillard. But he has since apologized to the South African high
commissioner for relaying wrong advice that South Africa's
anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela had died.
"I apologize unreservedly and am deeply sorry to have relayed what I thought was reliable advice," he said today. The resources minister said he had relayed his apology to the high commissioner.
Even Reuters fell for it, believing former US president George Bush - JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - "Nelson Mandela is still very much alive despite
an embarrassing gaffe by U.S. President George W. Bush, who alluded to
the former South African leader's death in an attempt to explain
sectarian violence in Iraq".
In South Africa on the other hand, the country waits with bated breath for
news of Nelson Mandela’s health, some South Africans breathe a sigh of
relief when they learn that the ailing statesman’s condition is
improving.
The good news though, is that Mr Mandela, 94, is alive and currently on life support in a Pretoria hospital.
Lets just pray for him and stop spreading rumors....
